When You Think About an Adventure – Think Ladakh
Popularly known as the “Land of High Passes”, Ladakh is one
the majestic travel destinations in India for any adventure lover. Starting
from the rough terrains to the icy blue lakes, its breath-taking appeal is
enough to mesmerize a person.
Situation at the northern most tip of India, it’s a part of
the Jammu & Kashmir state. With the great Himalayan Range to the south, it
has the mystical essence of Tibet owing to the inhabitants being of Tibetan
descent. The region has a great historic significance due to the ancient silk
route passing through the passes connected to Ladakh. The Karakoram pass on the
Ladakh range connects India to China and the Khardongla pass connects the
mainland India to Nubra and Shyok Valleys which are now open for the tourists.
In short, Ladakh is an adventurer or a trekker’s paradise and you must visit it
if you just happen to be one of them.
Things to see
Leh: The Capital of Ladakh is the main point of lodging for
most tourists because of good accommodation facilities available in the area.
It is also important to acclimatize to the altitude here before going any
further because of air getting thinner with height. While you are there check
out the Leh Palace including the palace museum which has an amazing collection
of ancient Thangkas, Jewellery and Royal dresses.
